Minimum Score Eligibility May Rise This Year
The minimum score needed to pass JEE Main could increase this year, according to experts. The cut-off score for IIT-JEE eligibility may reach the 90th percentile. "Students should aim for a score of at least 265 out of 300, and a score of at least 195 out of 300, to place them in the top 5000 top engineering colleges in India. If they can achieve a score over the 90th percentile, students should be able to qualify for JEE Advanced 2023, according to Ramesh Batlish, an expert at FIITJEE Noida. This time, the deciding aspect is probably math.
Parameters used by NIRF to Rank Colleges
Have you ever wondered how the NIRF ranks various colleges? Or how do they select which is best based on what criteria? A Core Committee made up of eminent Indian think tanks, professors, and high order thinkers creates the NIRF Ranking system to assess various universities across the nation.
Finding the broad criteria for grading different colleges and institutions is the main goal of NIRF. The parameters primarily address five things. Teaching, learning, and resources, as well as "Graduation Outcomes," "Research and Professional Practices," "Outreach and Inclusivity," and "Perception."
Teaching, Learning & Resources
Why are IITs or IIMs regarded as the best? They are definitely planned and funded by the government with the intention of achieving the specific objective of making India a nation of highly skilled technocrats, but the main distinction is in the teaching methodology and resources available.
The few elements that come first in determining the best ones are the faculty-student ratio, the faculty-student strength, and the contribution of these Highly Qualified Faculty to the National Growth.
Research and Professional Practice
Research is, in the words of an expert, "seeing what everyone else has seen and thinking what nobody else has pondered." Any institution's main goal is to conduct research and discover a new model for Knowledge Value Creation in order to improve the world.
The main NIRF Ranking Parameters that determine the best and the greatest ones are those related to research and professional practice, such as research publications, patents, and other executive development programs of any institution.
These criteria are included in the Research and Professional Practice Model.
-
Combined Publications Metric (PU)
-
Combined metric for publications' quality (QP)
-
Patents and IPR: Filed, Published, Granted, and Licensed (IPR)
-
Project footprint, executive development programs, and professional practice footprint (FPPP)
Graduation Outcomes
The real goal of education is to enable children to invent and discover new things, not to enhance their level of knowledge. Most institutions are built to produce men who can act on their beliefs and ideas.
Any institution's future is determined by the status of its graduating students. One of the main elements that enable the NIRF Ranking Methodology to go deep with Ranking is placement records. Other important factors include the level of university examinations and the proportion of graduating students choosing higher education.
Outreach and Inclusivity
Despite being based in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh, IIT Kanpur is renowned throughout the world for its academic prowess. The most crucial element in determining a college's rating is its reach. An excellent institution will draw students from neighboring states, but if the college wins the competition, there is no question that a greater proportion of students will come from other states or nations.
The NIRF Ranking Board also takes into account a college's amenities and inclusivity for other socially, physically, or financially challenged students when determining its ranking.
The following are some more criteria that describe a college's diversity and outreach.
-
Percent students from different states or nations (Region Diversity RD)
-
% of Women (WF) plus (WS) plus (WA)
-
Students with a range of economic and social challenges (ESCS)
-
Facilities for Students with Physical Disabilities (PCS)
Perception
One's perception of a specific institute depends on a variety of factors. One of the most significant NIRF Rating Parameters that determine a particular institution's ranking is college perception. Employers, research investors, and college competitiveness are referred to as perceptions in this context. The following are some of the key elements that NIRF considers when determining how a college is perceived.
-
Employers and research investors' perceptions (PREMP)
-
Academic (PRACD),
-
Public (PRPUB)
-
Competitive peer perception (PRCMP)
In the End
Although the NIRF Ranking is the most reliable approach for determining which one is the best, it doesn't necessarily tells you that a "highly ranked" or "prestigious" college is the best fit for you. Never forget that the ideal college for one person could be the worst nightmare for another. Visit college campuses and get a feel for it.
